The UMCA Foundation is dedicated to providing critical medical care to underserved communities in Uganda, working in collaboration with generous individuals and donors.
We are reaching out to you today to seek your support for our upcoming mission in Yumbe, where we aim to address the urgent issue of hernias that plague many residents.
Background:
In February
2024, our first medical and surgical camp at Yumbe Regional Hospital was a resounding success. We treated
521 patients and performed 111 surgeries for various conditions. This impactful initiative highlighted the dire need for continued medical intervention, particularly to treat hernias, which are prevalent due to factors such as malnutrition, heavy workloads, and strenuous efforts to sustain daily living.
Project Goal:
Our goal is to conduct
1,000 free operations over the course of four weeks, with a target of
250 patients per week. This life-changing project will alleviate the suffering of hundreds of individuals, providing them with essential surgical interventions that can drastically improve their quality of life. The cost of each surgery is approximately
$100.
The Economic Impact of this Project worthes:
More than 620,000 USD:
How You Can Help:
To achieve this ambitious goal, we need your support to cover the essential costs associated with the project. Your contribution will go towards:
Medical supplies: Ensuring we have the necessary equipment and materials to perform surgeries safely and effectively.
Transportation and accommodation: Facilitating the travel and lodging for our medical team and support staff.
General care and bonuses: Compensating the surgeons, local medical team, and support staff who are integral to the success of this mission.
Impact:
By supporting the Yumbe Project, you will play a crucial role in improving the health and well-being of the Yumbe community. Your generosity will provide much-needed relief to those suffering from debilitating hernias, allowing them to lead healthier, more productive lives. The positive impact of this project will extend beyond the individuals treated, benefiting their families and the broader community as well.
